WHAT IS MENTORSHIP
It is widely believed that the concept of mentoring originated with the character of Mentor in Homer's Odyssey. Mentor looked after Odysseus' son while he was away fighting in the Trojan War. This is where the word mentor comes from, which means to be an example to a younger person.
Today, the objective of mentoring is to harness the existing knowledge, skills and experience of alumni students of EDHEC. They are hardworking employees who will try to transfer their skills and knowledge to EDHEC BBA students in order to help them with their career.

Your mentor can help you expand your horizons by opening up opportunities that you might not otherwise have had access to.
She will do this by sharing her knowledge, introducing you to new people who can be useful in your future career (networking). Your mentor will help you identify opportunities that you might not have seen, potentially opening doors for you when the time comes. She is there to guide you and advise you on how to grow and achieve your goals in life.
MENTOR
As a mentor you can also benefit a lot of this situation. First, as a mentor you have the opportunity to become a better leader. It will confront you to someone of an other generation with other ideas than you. This is why you will also work on your patience and you will be helping in shaping the future generation.
Some mentorships never end. The link this mentorship creates is really interesting for a mentor to be able to see through someone else's eyes. This helps older generations also to start thinking out of the box.
